How far did you get in school, before you came here?

I'm in college, by the way. Since you were asking. I dropped out of high school but I got my GED.

I graduated from high school, but that's about it... Though, back home I'm taking a few online college courses. [She doesn't ask what this is about because she doesn't really know you, but. She hopes the input helps, whatever it's for.]

Why did you drop out?

I was eight when I was imprisoned. I've spent a few years trying to catch up but I have no formal schooling.

Well, I got pregnant. And then I just never re-enrolled.

Not your fault. Anyway I got my GED because it's hard to get jobs without one. My mom was the one who thought college would be a good idea.

I had selective information implanted in my brain and attended a virtual reality high school for a month.

I didn't see the point. But mom thought it was important, and it's been a long time since I've been able to make her happy, so I gave it a try. It's actually kind of fun, if you can believe it.
